The Catlins
Florence Hill, South Island, New Zealand
We came upon this lonely hill top one dark stormy night.
Right at the top is a parking area were we stopped our van to get some sleep until the morning.
Buffeted by wind and battered by rain it was not really the most comfortable nights sleep i've ever had but in the morning we awoke to this most spectacular view laid out before us.
The first images i took had a very different feel to them, the sky was browsed dark purple and sun clipped the coastal hill in the background but this shot came a little later, When a bank of low cloud had rolled in from the storm at sea.
When i look at this image i'm always transported back to that windy winter hill top view of serenity.
Just spectacular!
